At the end of 1959, the French luxury brand launched the Facellia convertible. Smaller than the other Facel Vegas, this model was no longer fitted with an American V8 but a French 4-cylinder. The Facellia was replaced in 1963 by this Facel III, which received a Volvo engine. Therefore, this Facel III did not succeed the Facel II, contrary to what its name suggests.

The magnificent coupe was designed by Jean Daninos. The Facel II succeeded the HK 500 at the 1961 Salon de Paris and remained available until the small prestigious French brand ceased production in 1964. The Facel II borrows its V8 from Chrysler. The 390 hp of this 6.3-litre was exceptional at that time: the maximum speed was 240 kph.
