Il s’agit ici d’un concept-car, réalisé en un seul exemplaire en 1971, destiné à participer au Rapid Transit System Caravan, présentation itinérante des muscle cars Plymouth.

Wartburg 313-2 Sport (Avenue 43) 1:43

This East German brand is known for its classic three-box sedans. Convertibles were also made in small series in the 1960s. But here, we have an authentic roadster. The 313/2 was to succeed the 313/1, produced from 1957 to 1960. Requested specifications mentioned not to exceed 850 kilograms for 60 hp. But for technical reasons, this prototype was never produced.

BMW E21 Karmann Cabriolet (Avenue 43) 1:43

The first-generation Series 3 (E21), launched in 1975, never offered any in-house convertible. The German company Baur, founded in 1910 by Karl Baur, produced such a variant, using the same pillars but adding a hoop. Karmann (which also produced Beetle convertibles) designed a real hoop-less cabriolet, but this model was never series-produced.

Pegaso Z-103 (Avenue 43) 1:43

Between the end of 1951 and 1958, only 86 units of the Z-102 were produced. But the Z-103, which was to succeed it in 1955, is even rarer: only three cars, designed by the Italian coachbuilder Touring, were assembled by this Spanish brand, including two coupes and a convertible. From 1958, Pegaso will focus again exclusively on the manufacture of trucks.

BMW Hurrican (Avenue 43) 1:43

Little is known about this pretty coupe. But its existence is proven since this unique model is still preserved, today, in perfect condition. Equipped with the 1964 BMW 1800 ti engine, it is supposed to have been designed by a Swiss school from 1967 and completed in 1976. Among other parts borrowed from several models, the windshield would be that of a Ferrari 250 LM.

Sunbeam Alpine Harrington (Avenue 43)

Before its takeover by Chrysler in 1970, the British brand Sunbeam was part of the Rootes group that also included Singer, Hillman and Humber. The Thomas Harrington workshops transformed the Alpine roadster, released in 1959, into a coupe intended for racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1961 to 1963. Sunbeam did not offer this version as a production car, but Harrington sold 250 cars.

Opel GT/W Geneva 1975 (Avenue 43) 1:43

This forgotten concept car was unveiled at the 1975 Geneva Motor Show. It looked similar to the Corvette-based experimental show car XP-897 GT, equipped with a Wankel engine. The Opel prototype was to receive the same engine, but eventually never moved ahead: General Motors, like Citroën, was about to drop this technology, too voracious in its appetite for fuel.

Pontiac Farago CF 428 (Avenue 43) 1:43

This concept car was designed in 1969 under the direction of John DeLorean, then the head of Pontiac. He worked with two Italian designers, Paul Farago, a Ghia stylist that had designed the Chrysler-based Ghia L6.4, and Sergio Cacciola, the designer of the Saab Sonnett III and Volvo 262 C. This model is based on the Pontiac Grand Prix and shares the same 7-litre 428 ci block.

Cisitalia 202B Allemano Abarth (Avenue 43) 1:43

This Italian brand was founded in 1946, shortly before Ferrari. Manufactured from 1947, the 202 is a berlinetta (and a barchetta) that received the modest Fiat 1100 engine. The main part of the (small) number of models produced was designed by Pinin Farina but some of them were bodied by other coachbuilders like this rare 1951 Allemano coupe, with Abarth mechanical parts.

Opel Studie Manta B (Avenue 43) 1:43

Right after launching the Manta coupe in 1970, Opel works on a 2nd generation. Several prototypes are made, such as this red version in 1972, which follows a grey concept car, rather similar but without an interior. This model looks like the 1971 Buick Riviera and even the Studebaker Avanti, but Raymond Loewy did not intervene here! However, the Manta "b" released in 1975 was different.
