In August 1972, Volkswagen released the 1303, which was the first visible update of the Beetle, known as the Käfer in Germany or Coccinelle in France. This model had already been renamed 1302 in 1971 and had received new suspensions to enlarge its (front) trunk. The 1303 adds a curved windshield and a rearranged dashboard.
