The fact is little known, but in the 1930s, Mercedes marketed rear engine models. It started in February 1934 at the Berlin Motor Show with the 130H type W23 that we have here. The letter H stands for “heck” in German (rear) and designates the position of the engine. Its 1.3-litre 4-cylinder developed 26 hp. Whitebox also reproduced the 170H, produced from 1936.
