After signing an agreement with Maserati, Citroën bought the Italian brand in 1969. The result of these events was the SM, released in 1970, equipped with a Maserati V6. Despite its original design, this coupe was a commercial failure, and the acquisition of Citroën by Peugeot in 1974 was fatal to it. This white colour was rare but yet available throughout its career.
