Based on the shortened chassis of the 300 sedan (W186), this convertible was unveiled at the 1951 Salon de Paris. At the time, this model was the most expensive in Mercedes’ catalogue. Including the coupe and roadster versions, only 760 units were produced until 1958, which makes the 300 S even rarer than the famous 300 SL coupe and roadster (a total of 3,258 units were assembled).
