The Ferrari Daytona inspired David Bache (who also designed, among others, the first-gen Range Rover), when he drew the lines of this beautiful English saloon launched in 1976. But also the Pininfarina BMC-1800 prototype, which had parallely influenced Robert Opron for the Citroen CX. Maxichamps reproduced the SD1 Vitesse, a trim level released in 1982 with 3.5-litre V8 with injection.

Rover only produced the sedan variant of the P6, often called according to its displacements (2000, 2200 and 3500), released in 1963 and restyled in 1970. Independent coachbuilders designed other versions, such as FLM Panelcraft, which made a few estates, or Graber, based in Switzerland, imagined a convertible and this elegant coupe introduced in 1967. Two or three units were built.

Since 2017, the Velar has integrated the Land Rover line. This name, which seems to come out of nowhere, had actually been used for the first time in 1969, for the prototypes of pre-series models that were to become the Range Rover, in 1970. Here, the bonnet bears the word “Velar”, replaced by Range Rover on the production model.
