In 1957, the American pilot Paul O’Shea, born in 1928, asked the U.S. importer of Mercedes to imagine a racing 300 SL. That is how this 300 SLS roadster, or rather barchetta, was designed. It was not based on the contemporary W198, but on the 1952 W194. This No. 30 participated to the Virginia International Raceway in 1957.
