The Diablo, designed by Marcello Gandini, widely known for his work for Lamborghini, was released in 1990 when Chrysler owned the brand. Then an Indonesian holding company bought Lamborghini, which was always on the verge of bankruptcy at the time. Only a few cars were manufactured every year. Things started to change in 1998, when Audi bought the brand and ensured its perenity.
